There are several reasons to this – terrariums can sometimes be difficult to clean, the terrarium may not get enough light, or there could be excessive moisture in the terrarium. Mold spores are all around us, and there’s no way to completely avoid them. However, you may practice some measures to prevent mold from forming in your terrarium!

Remove the wood and scrub it with a scrubbing brush to remove any left-over residue. To clean away the remnants, submerge the terrarium wood in a solution of equal parts bleach and water.
